“U North or True North?” - The Challenges of Ethical Decision-Making for In-House Counsel
The role of in-house counsel presents a unique set of both opportunities and challenges. We’ve found no better cinematic vehicle for illustrating the ethical and professional demands encountered by in-house counsel than the Oscar-nominated 2007 film Michael Clayton, starring George Clooney and Best Supporting Actress winner Tilda Swinton. Our unique audience-participation format offers in-house counsel an opportunity to explore the inevitable professional demands and ethical challenges of corporate practice, and the corresponding toll that they can take on an attorney’s mental health. The practical insights that participants gain from this seminar are designed to help guard against personal and professional pitfalls that can lead to unethical and otherwise problematic behaviors, and are applicable in any in-house setting.
